History Recalls---Will the Bloody Rainfall reappear?

History Recalls---Will the Bloody Rainfall reappear?

   History Report

Today our inspectors have found two mutants with the exact appearance of the true image of God, but with a devil in their mind. This is a new type of mutant, which is more dangerous than other mutants since people can’t tell the difference by looking at them. The two mutants that have been captured told us that there are more people who are their kind, so more people are participating in the chasing and finding action. That makes us wondering, will this be the prelude of the next battle between the Norm and the Mutants?
What happened today recalls us to the day fifty years ago. I believe most people haven’t forgot that significant event. Gordon Strom, the eldest brother of the Strom family was found out to be mutant. When he was born, nobody realized that he is different. As he grows older, his arms are getting longer and longer, which draws everybody’s attention. From that day, Gordon has been banished to Badlands, where all image of devil lives. Several years later, his brother, Joseph Strom was born with the true image, and eventually he becomes the leader of people who against mutants. On the other hand, Gordon Strom has become the leader of mutants.
This led us to the first battle between the image of God and Devil. The battle went on for exactly two weeks, and we could possibly call it the Bloody Rainfall, for it caused so many deaths on both sides. Gordon Strom was the commander of all anguish mutants, who didn’t believe that they are different. Gordon met his brother Joseph Strom on the battlefield and he hoped his brother could have mercy for them. They had a brief conversation but Joseph was resolute about the definition of man. Joseph also told Gordon that he would never confirm a mutant as his brother. This particular phrase made Gordon felt like the sky had just fell, but he had to accept the reality.
After that battle, Gordon Strom was known as the “Spider-man” because of his extra long arms. He took his people further more from Waknuk, and started their civilization in Badlands.
The story of Gordon Strom quickly rose upon Waknuk. Since then the examine process of new born babies are getting strict, every baby has to be carefully checked by professional inspector. This event always gives people the alarm that mutants are dangerous and outrages, and we must sweep them away before they can do anything.
Everything goes on well until today. The new type of mutant can do “thought-shape”, which we call it telepathy. They can communicate with each other without saying a single word, and this makes them more threatening to people.

The devil in their mind will come out someday in the future. We have to be prepared for that or the history may reappear.

Waknuk on the World

Waknuk on the World
(Found Poetry from John Wyndham's The Chrysalids)
Catherine L, Claire L, Supissara P, Winnie S, Helen Y

Our district Waknuk,
with a tradition from long long ago.
The world was thought to be big and round.
The civilized part called Labrador round by sea and fish, and cold.
No one could live long,
Although there were only two cold months.
(Chapter 1)

Commandments and precepts
One learns as a child
The definition of man recited itself
Each leg has one foot, each foot has five toes
The definition of man must be a mistake
(Page 10~14)

Our district Waknuk,
With a tradition from long long ago.
The long bank,
Running away until it reached the hills.
The huge scar,
That must have been made by the Old People.
(Page 17)

Commandments and precepts
The Norm is the Image of God
The Thing accursed in the sight of God and man
The devil has pronounced his mark through mutiny
But the true image is contradictory.
(Page 10, 27)

Our district Waknuk,
With a tradition from long long ago.
It was simply the bank,
Running straight towards the hills
I regarded the country there as foreign
Not so much hostile, as outside my territory
